The sizes that matter
- Square post — 1080 × 1080 (1:1), the safe default.

- Landscape post — 1080 × 566 (1.91:1).
- Story and Reel — 1080 × 1920 (9:16).

Crop to fill or fit with padding
Crop-to-fill centres your image and trims the overflow, so the frame is completely used but edges are lost. Fit-with-padding keeps the whole image and fills the gaps with a colour you choose — useful when the composition can't survive a crop.

- Are my images uploaded to a server?
- No. Every tool here decodes and re-encodes your file using your browser's own Canvas APIs. The image never leaves your device, which is also why it works offline once the page is loaded.
- Why does Instagram still recompress my image?
- Instagram always re-encodes uploads. Supplying the exact pixel dimensions avoids a second resize on their side, which is the main cause of visible softening — but you can't skip their compression entirely.
- Which size gets the most attention in the feed?
- Portrait at 1080 × 1350 occupies the most vertical space on a phone, so it tends to hold attention longer than square or landscape.
